Quick answer

What is Thermage and what does it do?

Thermage is a non-invasive skin-tightening treatment that sends monopolar radiofrequency (RF) energy into the dermis and the fibrous layer beneath it. The heat contracts existing collagen right away and triggers new collagen over the following months, so skin looks firmer and smoother.

It suits mild-to-moderate laxity — a softening jawline, crepey eyelids, a loose neck or upper arms. Umi Clinic also offers the current-generation Thermage FLX, with the shot count planned by the doctor for your face and goals.

Your visit

How Thermage works at Umi

Every visit is doctor-led and explained in English, from the first skin check to aftercare.

  1. Consult & skin check

The doctor checks laxity and skin thickness, then sets the area and shot count.

  2. Numbing & grid

Numbing cream for about 30 minutes; a temporary grid guides even coverage.

  3. RF pulses

Short bursts of deep heat, each with cooling and vibration for comfort.

  4. Aftercare

Light redness settles within hours. Sunscreen, moisturiser, done.

Before & after

How Thermage changes the skin

Thermage works below the surface, so the change is gradual: tighter collagen first, visible firmness over the following months.

Illustration: skin before and after Thermage Left, before: an uneven skin surface with loose, wavy collagen fibres. Right, about three months after: a smoother surface with denser, tighter collagen fibres. BEFORE ≈ 3 MONTHS AFTER Loose, wavy collagen · crepey surface Denser, tighter collagen · smoother surface

Day 1

A subtle tightening as existing collagen contracts.

Weeks 4–12

New collagen forms; skin feels firmer and smoother.

Months 3–6

Peak firmness and a crisper jawline and neck.

FAQ

Thermage questions

Is Thermage painful?

You feel short bursts of deep heat. Numbing cream, built-in cooling and vibration keep it tolerable for most people, and energy is adjusted as we go.

Thermage or Thermage FLX — what is the difference?

FLX is the current generation of Thermage. It uses a larger tip and automatic energy adjustment, so sessions are faster and more even. Ask the team which version suits your plan.

Thermage or Ultherapy?

Thermage (radiofrequency) tightens skin quality and texture; Ultherapy (focused ultrasound) lifts deeper tissue. They are often combined for lift plus tightening.

How long do Thermage results last?

Collagen keeps building for about 6 months and results often last a year or more, depending on age, skin and lifestyle.

Can I fly home after Thermage?

Yes. There is no downtime, so you can fly the next day. Use sunscreen and moisturiser on the plane.

Do foreigners pay more?

No. International patients pay the same price as local patients at Umi Clinic.
