Quick answer
What is a thread lift?
A thread lift is a minimally invasive lifting procedure in which absorbable threads, usually PDO, PCL or PLLA, are inserted under the skin with a fine cannula. Barbs or cones on the threads grip the soft tissue so the doctor can lift sagging cheeks, jowls and jawline, and as the threads dissolve they stimulate collagen around them.
It fills the gap between energy-based lifting and surgery. In Seoul, thread lifts are commonly combined with HIFU to tighten deeper layers as well.

FAQ
Thread lift questions
How long does a thread lift last?
Usually 12–18 months for the lift itself, with some collagen benefit beyond that. PCL and PLLA threads tend to last longer than PDO.
Is a thread lift painful?
Local anaesthetic makes the procedure tolerable; most people feel pressure and tugging. Soreness for a few days is common.
What are the risks?
Bruising, swelling, temporary dimpling and asymmetry are the most common. Infection or thread visibility are uncommon and treatable.
When can I fly home?
Flying after 1–2 days is generally fine. Ideally plan a check-up before leaving Seoul.
Do foreigners pay more?
No. International patients pay the same price as local patients at Umi Clinic.
